I've mentioned before, and I definitely made it clear in my last post, that I pray about my science.
It's a pretty standard occurrence for me. I pray for my friends, my family, my work, etc. And the other week in the car on the way to campus, I prayed for my dissertation. I'm excited about my proposal, but I really need to move forward quickly and skillfully to accomplish my goals over the next year. And I've been feeling stressed. So I prayed.
As I'm in the habit of doing when I pray about research, I prayed that God would reveal truth to me. Because He already knows the answers. I believe that He created the world and all that's in it, and I believe that He is omniscient. He knows. And I view science as a means for Him to reveal truth about the creation He's made.
When I finished praying and got to campus, I opened my Bible app. I was hoping to have time to read from my daily reading plan, but I really didn't. So, while I don't usually pay attention to it, I decided to look at the "verse of the day." It was Jeremiah 33:2-3, and exactly what I needed to hear:

This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it-- the Lord is his name: 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'
I'll admit I was a bit overwhelmed. I believe that God speaks to us and answers us in different ways, but this-- this was so... direct.
It was also the second time something like that had happened that week.
So my take-away is this:
Pray about your science. He's listening. He cares. And He'll answer.
As we continue the pursuit of science, may He continue to reveal to us the "great and unsearchable things" that we do not yet know. And may He ever get the glory.
